Background: Game art is a component part of game development. Game art involves creating the artistic features for video games. The game artists are involved from the very beginning of creating a game. Game artists make rough sketches of the characters, setting, objects, etc. After the rough sketches are finished and the game is ready to be moved forward, those artists or more artists are brought in to bring these sketches to life through graphic design.

The art design of a game can involve any number of people. When there are just a few artist, they need to have a broad skillset. However, when companies have more people, the artists tend to be more specialized in what they do.
